question

a recipe for banana oat muffins calls for 3/4 cup of oats. i am making half of the recipe. how much oats should i use?

  1. 3/4 divided by 2/1 = 3/4 x 1/2 = 3/8. You will need 3\8 cup of oats.

  2. You need to use 3/8 of a cup. 3/4 x 2 = 6/8. Since you need half of the oats you split the fraction in half. 6/8 ÷ 2 = 3/8.
